Link for Checking on Vehicle Safety Recalls

Owners may not always know if their vehicles have been recalled for manufacturers’ repairs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has a new search tool that lets vehicle owners enter a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to quickly learn if a specific vehicle has not been repaired as part of a safety recall in the last 15 years.

The VIN search tool covers:

  • Safety recalls that are incomplete on a vehicle
  • Safety recalls conducted over the past 15 calendar years
  • Safety recalls conducted by major light auto makers, including motorcycle manufacturers

The recall information is provided through this VIN search and is provided by the manufacturer conducting the recall. The NHTSA does not record VIN information or results provided through the VIN search tool.

Go to https://vincl.safercar.gov/vin/and type in your vehicle’s VIN number.
