Play it safe and put down the cell phone

Texting-and-drivingIn 2014, a total of 2,121 Pennsylvania drivers were cited for “distracted driving” – 1,410 for texting while driving and 711 times for using headphones while driving, according to data compiled by the Administrative Office of PA Courts.

Since the state’s “no texting” law took effect in March 2012, more than 3,940 tickets for texting while driving have been issued across Pennsylvania and citations have increased with each year. Over the same period of time, 1,752 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while using headphones or earphones.

The fine for texting while driving in Pennsylvania is $50 plus nearly $90 in court costs. Using headphones while driving can cost you from $50 to $300 plus costs, imprisonment of up to three months, or both.

So play it safe and don’t text and drive and don’t wear headphones while operating a vehicle. Always be safe.
