Proud of our Vets

veterans-day-images-picsWe are proud to salute all veterans, in particular, our co-workers who served our country.

Marc L. Aronson enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 23, 1968. A little over a year later, he was shipped to Vietnam for a deployment that lasted for 18 months. He served in three divisions: 1st Infantry (Big Red One), 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles) and the 25th Infantry (Tropic Lightning).

The largest battle Marc fought in was at Fire Support Base (FSB) Ripcord. Two hundred forty-eight American soldiers were killed during the battle against a determined North Vietnamese Army. Three soldiers were declared missing in action.

Marc earned the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and was honorably discharged on April 30, 1971. He was awarded the National Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters. The V for valor attached to the Bronze Star indicates that it was awarded to him for bravery and heroism in combat. He also received a Purple Heart although he was not wounded.

Heather Voytek spent five years (2004-2009) serving in the U.S. Army. She attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina in 2004 and went on to receive Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at the School of Music at Little Creek Amphibious Base, Norfolk, Virginia. She returned to Fort Jackson in 2005 with the rank of E-4 Specialist.

During her time at Fort Jackson, she was a member of the 282nd Army “Victory” Band playing the clarinet and performing during graduation ceremonies for basic training, change of command ceremonies for officers coming in and leaving units, and in numerous parades around South Carolina. The Victory Band also had the privilege of performing during the Mardi Gras Parade in 2006.

In addition to her duties as an Army musician, Heather worked in the administrative office for her unit. She was responsible for processing attendance, leave requests, paperwork for incoming and outgoing soldiers and various other tasks assigned by her commanding officer.

From 2006-2010, Jonathan Cimino served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Blue Ridge (LCC-19) stationed at Yokosuka-shi, Kanegawa Prefecture, Japan. He held the rank of Postal Clerk/Logistics Specialist 3rd Class Petty Officer.
