An Auctioneer Bond is known as a License and Permit Bond. In order to secure an Auctioneers’ License, the bond must be filed with the state before an individual can begin the process of becoming an Auctioneer. A bond is unlike insurance in that an insurance policy is written for the benefit of the policyholder while a bond is written for the benefit of a third party such as the state or its citizens.
License and Permit Bonds “put teeth” into the laws passed for the protection of the public. The purpose of the bond is to ensure that the Auctioneer complies with all laws, ordinances, statutes, rules and regulations relating to the business of being an Auctioneer. The bond amount is set according to state law or local ordinance and therefore can vary from state to state.
Auctioneer Bonds for Bankruptcy Court
This bond guarantees that the Auctioneer will faithfully perform the duties of an Auctioneer. The Auctioneer will account for all monies received and in all things comply with the requirements of the United States Trustee and/or the United States Bankruptcy court.
