Get and Confirm that COI

cartoon-contractorIf you are having work done on your home or property, ask your contractor for proof of insurance in the form of a Certificate of Insurance (COI). This is provided to your contractor by their insurance agent free of charge.

Once you receive the Certificate of Insurance, confirm directly with the contractor’s insurance agent to make sure the policy is still in effect. You can do this with a quick telephone call to the agent’s office.

If the contractor has no insurance and someone gets hurt while work is being done, YOU will be held liable for his or her medical expenses.

If you have questions about the Certificate of Insurance, homeowners or automotive insurance, please call E. R. Munro and Company at 1-877-376-8676 Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
